O Slavă Nespus de Mare

The Weight of Glory speaks a message of gospel hope into a broken world. The journey opens with a series of foundational verses about the loving sovereignty of God, but quickly descends into the cries of affliction, suffering, persecution, and depression that appear throughout the Scripture. In the words of the Psalmist, the misery of Job, and the lamentations of Jeremiah, the pain is real and raw: “My soul is greatly troubled. But O Lord—how long?” (Psalm 6:3).

Then, the darkness begins to break as the collected heartache of the ancients becomes a testimony of rescue and redemption. The climax of the presentation turns to the epistles, assembling some of the greatest promises in all of Scripture—that “this hope we have as an anchor of the soul” (Hebrews 6:19); that nothing and no one “shall separate us from the love of Christ” (Romans 8:36); and that the grace of Jesus “is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

The conclusion is one of strong assurance that our momentary afflictions in this life are achieving for us an “eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison” in the life to come (2 Corinthians 4:17).
