Hope is truly amazing. With it, anything is possible. It encourages us to look beyond the horizon to another day – a better day, and then empowers us to live in light of that expectation. While hope points to something in the future seen only by faith, it also swings the needle on the compass of our heart to guide our present steps. Certain in our uncertainty, it is both an anchor and a promise.
No stronger than that to which it clings, hope requires we risk much on something outside ourselves. But where? Doubt seeks to banish it. Disappointment reminds us why not to believe. Without hope, we despair. No promise of tomorrow. No strength for today. With no thought of the horizon, our eyes are fixed downward at the waters swirling around us. Tossed by endless waves with seemingly no prospect of ever reaching shore, we drift.
When it’s smooth sailing, we hardly think about hope. But as storms blow in, we are driven to find a place of safety – a reason to believe – a source of hope.
Our newest presentation, The Weight of Glory, is all about this quest. We are excited to share it with you because of the powerful journey of hope in Christ it portrays — from a cry to a song. This is a journey we have all traveled, are discovering now, or have navigated with family and friends.
So where are you today – hope-full or hope-less?
If you are in need of hope as you set sail into this new year, or just want to hold fast the confession of your hope without wavering, let your heart take courage. You are not alone. Our God is a God of hope. And filling people with the hope found only in Jesus is His specialty. He is a Rock for all those who seek Him – Faithful and True – a stronghold in times of trouble. He alone is our Refuge and those who call upon Him will never be ashamed.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NASB
