Day 7 – David’s Righteous Branch

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; and He will reign as king and act wisely and do justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will live securely; and this is His name by which He will be called, ‘The Lord Our Righteousness.’”

– JEREMIAH 23:5-6 NASB –

The shoot that sprouts from the stump of Jesse will be raised up as a Righteous Branch of his son David. This prophecy also proclaims that one day He will reign as King bringing deliverance and salvation.He will wisely execute justice and righteousness and all who live under His reign will dwell securely.

Who is this Righteous Branch? This prophecy identifies Him as “The Lord our Righteousness” (“Yahweh Tsedeqenu”).  No earthly ruler could step into this royal title – only the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
